Product Description
Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) is an important organic ether compound that plays a key role in modern industry as an additive for high-octane gasoline and as a chemical feedstock.
For detailed information on the physical and chemical properties of MTBE, see 【Addition information】
Main Applications & Product Features
1.Product Features
• High octane rating: RON 118, MON 101, with excellent anti-knock properties
• High oxygen content: 18.2%, promoting complete fuel combustion
• Low boiling point: 55.2°C, highly volatile, suitable for rapid blending
• Fully miscible with gasoline, with excellent blending properties
• Good chemical stability, resistant to oxidation and decomposition
2.Main Applications
• Gasoline additives: Increases octane rating to 93–95, reduces CO emissions
• Isobutylene production: Cracked to produce polymer-grade isobutylene (≥99.9%)
• Feedstock for butyl rubber, polyisobutylene, and methyl methacrylate (MMA)
• Organic synthesis solvent: Used in pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and coatings
• Chromatography solvent and cleaning agent for electronic chemicals
• Solvent for Grignard reactions and organometallic reactions

Storage Requirements
• Store in a cool, well-ventilated warehouse
• Keep away from sources of ignition and heat
• Storage temperature: 2–30°C
• Store separately from strong oxidizing agents and strong acids
• Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation equipment
• Avoid transporting during periods of high temperatures in summer; tank trucks must be equipped with grounding chains to prevent static electricity buildup
Safety Precautions
• Highly flammable; keep away from open flames, heat sources, and ignition sources
• Vapors are heavier than air and may spread along the ground, posing a risk of fire at a distance
• Wear protective gloves and safety goggles
• Use explosion-proof electrical equipment
• Do not use compressed air for filling or unloading
• Avoid skin contact and inhalation
• No smoking in the work area
