Sodium Methoxide | High Purity Solid & Liquid | CAS 124-41-4 | Purity ≥96% | Condensing Agent Strong Base Catalyst Export

¥5,000.00

Sodium methoxide is a strongly basic organic alcohol salt. It is highly hygroscopic, undergoes violent hydrolysis upon contact with water, and is readily soluble in organic solvents such as methanol and ethanol. With high catalytic activity, it is commonly used as a condensation agent, esterification catalyst, and methoxylation reagent, and is widely applied in the pharmaceutical, pesticide, fragrance, dye, biodiesel transesterification, and fine organic synthesis industries. Industrial-grade sodium methoxide is available in two specifications: high-purity solid powder and a 30% methanol solution. It features stable purity, low impurity levels, and consistent batch quality. Supplied directly from the source factory, it comes with complete hazardous chemical export certifications, and we can provide SDS, COA, hazardous packaging certificates, and a full set of customs clearance documents.

Product Description

Sodium methoxide, also known as sodium methoxy or sodium methoxide, has the chemical formula CH₃ONa and is the sodium salt of methanol. It is one of the simplest alkoxides. Sodium methoxide appears as a white, amorphous powder; it is sensitive to air and moisture and reacts very readily with oxygen and carbon dioxide.
Sodium methoxide undergoes a violent hydrolysis reaction upon contact with water, producing methanol and sodium hydroxide. It decomposes further in air at temperatures above 126°C. It is soluble in methanol and ethanol but insoluble in benzene and toluene.
Commercial products are available in two forms: solid sodium methoxide powder (high purity ≥96%) and sodium methoxide solution (commonly 25% or 30% concentration). The solid powder must be stored in a sealed container, while the solution requires protection with an inert gas. Sodium methoxide has high catalytic activity and is commonly used as a condensation agent, esterification catalyst, and methoxylation reagent. It is widely applied in the pharmaceutical, pesticide, fragrance, dye, biodiesel transesterification, and fine organic synthesis industries.
