Ethylene carbonate (EC) is a cyclic carbonate compound characterized by high polarity and a high dielectric constant.
At room temperature (25°C), ethylene carbonate is a colorless, needle-like crystalline solid that is virtually odorless and tasteless. When heated above its melting point (36–38°C), it melts into a colorless, transparent liquid. With excellent chemical stability, a wide electrochemical window, and exceptional solubility, it serves as the core component of lithium-ion battery electrolytes and is widely used in fine chemical fields such as organic synthesis, polymer materials, specialty coatings, and extraction and separation. The product features low moisture content, minimal impurities, and superior quality, meeting the high-end requirements of power batteries, energy storage batteries, and electronic chemicals.

Main Applications & Product Features

1. Lithium-ion Battery Electrolyte (90% Applications)

• Core Function: Acts as the primary solvent component, dissolving lithium salts (such as LiPF₆) and promoting dissociation to provide high ionic conductivity
• Key Role: Forms a stable SEI (Solid Electrolyte Interface) layer on the anode (graphite) surface, inhibiting the continuous decomposition of the electrolyte and extending the battery’s cycle life by more than 50%
• Applications: Power batteries, energy storage batteries, and consumer electronics batteries; typically used in blends with DMC (dimethyl carbonate), EMC (methyl ethyl carbonate), DEC (diethyl carbonate), and other compounds

2.Chemical Synthesis Intermediates

•  The primary raw material for producing dimethyl carbonate (DMC) via the ester exchange method, serving as an environmentally friendly alternative to the phosgene route
•  Used in the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates, rubber additives, and textile finishing agents
•  Used in the preparation of other carbonate esters, such as propylene carbonate and diphenyl carbonate
• Serves as a raw material for polycarbonate synthesis, contributing to the production of polycarbonates via non-phosgene routes
