Product Description

2-Ethylhexanol  (also known as Isooctyl Alcohol) is an important organic chemical raw material with the chemical formula C₈H₁₈O. It is a branched-chain C8 primary alcohol with unique physicochemical properties. 2-Ethylhexanol is a colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid with a distinctive sweet taste and a faint floral aroma.
Due to its branched-chain structure, isooctanol possesses anti-crystallization properties, making it highly valuable in the production of plasticizers and lubricants. Its ester compounds also exhibit this property; combined with their low volatility, they can effectively reduce viscosity and lower the pour point.
As a fatty alcohol, isooctanol esters possess excellent skin-conditioning properties. Their primary industrial applications include serving as a key raw material for the production of plasticizers such as di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), as well as acting as a low-volatility solvent.
