Assay Is the Starting Point

DMC assay confirms the principal component but does not describe all performance-relevant impurities. Two batches with the same 99.9% headline value can differ in water, acidity, methanol and residue.

Water and Acidity

Water can affect moisture-sensitive synthesis and electrolyte chemistry. Acidity can influence storage stability, corrosion and electrochemical performance. Buyers should specify the method, reporting unit and maximum value; a percentage-level industrial limit cannot be compared directly with a ppm-level battery requirement.

Methanol and Residue

Methanol can reflect process history and may affect reaction or formulation behavior. Non-volatile residue matters where deposits, film quality or electrolyte cleanliness are critical. Color, density and refractive index can support identity and consistency checks.

Application-Specific Review

Battery users may additionally require trace metals and ionic impurities. Coatings users may focus on solvency, color and evaporation. Synthesis users may prioritize water, methanol and acidity. A strong procurement specification begins with the process rather than copying every available parameter.
